What started as a homeschool project has turned into one of our favourite things we've done as a family ๐ฑ๐ค The original idea was simple. Teach the kids where food comes from. Learn about plant life cycles. Get our hands dirty. Maybe grow a few vegetables along the way. But somewhere between planting seeds and checking on seedlings every morning, it became so much more than that. We've harvested enough tomatoes to make homemade tomato soup ๐ Enough vegetables for ratatouille. Enough basil to make herb butters. And even enough produce to share with our neighbours, which might be my favourite part of all ๐ค There's something incredibly satisfying about walking outside and picking ingredients for dinner. Not because you have to. But because you can. The kids have learned patience, responsibility and that food doesn't magically appear on supermarket shelves. They've learned that sometimes plants don't make it. Sometimes bugs get them. Sometimes the weather has other plans. And sometimes you end up with more tomatoes than you know what to do with ๐ For us, the garden has become a little reminder to slow down. To spend time outside. To appreciate the process. And to celebrate the small wins. What started as a homeschool project has turned into soups, shared meals, gifts for neighbours and a whole lot of family memories. And honestly? It's been fun. And delicious ๐ฑโจ
