๐ What Aussie families need to know about eating local in Bali ๐๐ฎ๐ฉ One of the best things you can do in Bali is step away from the familiar and try local food. Here are a few tips we've learnt along the way: โ๏ธ Start simple if you're nervous. Nasi Goreng, Mie Goreng and Satay are popular for a reason. โ๏ธ Busy warungs are usually a good sign. If locals are eating there, that's often a great indicator. โ๏ธ Don't judge a place by how it looks. Some of the best meals we've had have come from tiny roadside warungs. โ๏ธ Expect different flavours. Indonesian food uses ingredients and spices many Aussies aren't used to, and that's part of the fun. โ๏ธ Ask questions. Most owners are proud of their food and happy to explain dishes. โ๏ธ Carry cash. Many smaller warungs still prefer it. โ๏ธ Don't be afraid to try something new. You might discover your next favourite meal. โ๏ธ Spice levels vary! If you're sensitive to chilli, ask first ๐ถ๏ธ๐ (Tidak pedas - Not spicy) For us, eating local isn't just about saving money. It's one of the best ways to experience Bali's culture, support local businesses and discover flavours you won't find back home. What's your favourite Indonesian dish?
