Why We’re Rethinking Homeschooling While Living Abroad in Bali

This video was from about a year ago and while yes, we are still homeschooling, a few things have changed. We’ve stepped out of the Australian reporting system – living overseas puts us in a bit of a grey area anyway! For now, we’re still following an Aussie curriculum, but I’ll be honest… it’s doing my head in and I’m just about ready to ditch it. Our Year 9 kiddo works pretty independently with weekly check-ins, while with the younger ones we’ve shifted back from so much online learning to more good old-fashioned worksheets and paper. Because let’s be real… Siri makes things too easy, predictive text is a cheeky spelling helper, voice-to-text is next level, and don’t even get me started on ChatGPT at their grade level 😂 Homeschooling is a journey, and we’re figuring it out as we go.
