✨ Get to know Mia ✨ One thing a lot of people don't know about me is that I had gastric sleeve surgery back in 2020. This photo was taken about 6 months later, after I'd cracked the 50kg weight loss mark 🤍 Like many people, I spent years trying different diets, different plans and different approaches. Sometimes I'd have success. Sometimes I wouldn't. It often felt like I was constantly thinking about food, weight and trying to "start again on Monday" 😅 Having the sleeve wasn't the easy way out. It was a tool that gave me the opportunity to finally make changes I could sustain long term. But surgery was only one piece of the puzzle. There was also a lot of therapy. A lot of learning. A lot of unpacking years of habits, emotions and behaviours around food. Five years later, the sleeve is still very much part of my everyday life. I still have restriction when I eat. In fact, I still need to choose whether I'm eating or drinking because I can't comfortably do both at the same time. I still struggle with plain water because it feels heavy in my stomach, something I've never completely gotten used to. And rice? Let's just say living in Bali has been interesting 😂 One or two tablespoons is usually my limit before I start feeling full. People often think weight loss surgery is a finish line. For me, it wasn't. It was a really powerful tool, but it still requires choices every day. One of the biggest gifts it's given me is freedom. Freedom to travel. Freedom to keep up with the kids. Freedom to say yes to adventures. And while the physical changes are obvious, the mental changes have probably been even bigger. What I'm most proud of isn't that I lost over 50kg. It's that I've maintained it. Five years later. Through moving countries, raising four kids and all the ups and downs life throws at you. And honestly... I'm just really proud 🤍 This was simply part of my journey, and one of the best decisions I've ever made ✨
