Can we talk about helmets for a minute? šµ šŖ Because this is one Bali topic that I feel really strongly about. If I order a Grab or Gojek bike and the driver doesn't have a passenger helmet for me, I'm not getting on. Simple as that. And honestly, every time I see tourists riding around Bali without helmets, or refusing the helmet offered by the driver, it makes me incredibly frustrated. Accidents don't care if you're on holiday. They don't care if you're only going 5 minutes down the road. And they definitely don't care if the wind looked better in your hair for the Instagram photo. Personally, I believe every driver should offer a helmet. And if the passenger refuses? I actually think the driver should have the option to decline the ride without penalty. Because at the end of the day, they're the ones carrying the responsibility too. Now, do I understand why some people hesitate? Sure. Shared helmets aren't everyone's favourite thing. Would I love to see hair nets offered more often? Absolutely. But if you're planning to use Grab or Gojek regularly during your Bali trip, helmets are inexpensive enough that buying your own is a pretty easy solution. Your brain is worth a lot more than the cost of a helmet. There's actually an Instagram account I follow that I love because the driver regularly educates passengers about helmet safety and will even refuse rides if people won't wear one. š @alvesgodino I've never met him, but I have so much respect for the way he handles it. Maybe it's because we're living here. Maybe it's because we've seen enough accidents. But this is one of those things where I just don't think it's worth taking the risk. Helmet on. Every ride. Every time. What's your take? Do you always wear one when riding in Bali? ššµš¤
