One Day, Two Wonders: Exploring Borobudur and Prambanan from Yogyakarta
Can you visit Borobudur and Prambanan in one day? We put it to the test in Yogyakarta… and yep, you absolutely can 😅 We started early at Borobudur, the world’s largest Buddhist temple. It’s over 1,200 years old, built from volcanic stone, and covered in carved panels that tell stories like a giant stone comic book (the kids loved spotting animals and scenes). The views from the top are incredible — but be ready for lots of stairs. After a quick lunch stop (note to self: Java food is definitely sweeter than Bali 🍚), we headed to Prambanan. Prambanan is a Hindu temple complex dedicated to Brahma, Vishnu and Shiva. The towers are huge and dramatic, and it honestly feels like walking through a storybook set. The scale of it is unreal — especially in the afternoon light. Was it a big day? ✔️ Lots of walking ✔️ Lots of steps ✔️ Very hot ✔️ Very sweaty ✔️ 100% worth it One day, two iconic temples, and memories we won’t forget 💛
